Executive Board Selection

Executive Board
To accomplish the twofold goal of the project as mentioned in the information section, two Executive Boards will be selected to organize the project. Each Executive Board will consist out of five members. It is not only a great experience to work together closely with 5 students during one year on such a big project, but you will also travel to the country you have selected as the country of destination for IBR 2013. Next to this, you will be in close contact with (international) business life and have the responsibility over a group of fellow senior students who will conduct the research. Furthermore, you will also conduct research yourself with the Executive Board members.

The IBR-year
In the month April, both Executive Boards will decide which emerging markets will be the countries of destination of IBR 2013. You will collect information about the country and the search for supervising professors will start. At the same time, the Advisory Board and the Board of Recommendation will be carefully selected. After the summer holidays, the selection procedure of the participating students will start. These groups of selected students will join you around October.

From September till the end of April, the Executive Board will try to acquire the research projects, supervise the research projects, organize the trip, get into contact with local partners in the country of destination, guiding the participating students and numerous other tasks.

The participating students and both Executive Boards will follow an obligatory preparation phase that starts in November. The preparation phase, which is compiled by the Executive Board and the Faculty, exists out of two parts. It will start with general and guest lectures in block 1.2 and will continue with the Strategic Marketing course (part of the specialization course Marketing) in block 2.1. In total, 10 ECTS can be earned with the IBR project. Next to this preparation phase, everyone (participating students) will take place in a committee which will be chaired by one of the Executive Board members.

The trip will take place from the beginning of May till mid-July. The first 5 weeks will consist out of doing your field research and working on your research report. The last 5 weeks will give you the chance to travel around the country or region. During the summer, once you’ve returned to the Netherlands, you will have to finish your research report and present the results of the research report to the company. Furthermore, as an Executive Board member you will have to finish your tasks for IBR.

The preparation phase in the Netherlands, the field-research and the final research reports will all be supervised by two supervising professors from the Faculty of Economics and Business. These will be selected by your own Executive Board.
