A brief introduction of the EBF International Workgroup Committee

The university of Groningen is an international educational station for many students throughout the world. Through experience and relentless efforts to make the RUG a more comfortable and convenient place for the international and local students, it has created an ideal study destination for many prospective students. The EBF is trying to share this ambition by slowly involving into more international affairs, creating workgroups and even adding to their website English as a language choice. One of the workgroups of the EBF that focuses specifically in international affairs is the International Workgroup Committee.  This workgroup is relatively new and this year it is more multinational and multicultural, consisting from 12 members all from different countries. Countries like Greece, Germany, China, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Latvia and Holland. Which  add value and a sense of culture exchange in the University of Groningen. But not only in the university but also in our group. These members are extremely talented and focused in sharing their own experiences, knowledge and joy of working together with other people. It is already known from our studies that a multicultural group or team is more effective, than a homogeneous group. And that is what we are also aiming for efficiency and productivity with our tasks. The goal of the International Workgroup committee is to bring the international and local students together, creating a climate of trust , a climate of internationalization , a climate of comfort for all the international students of the faculty that study and live here in Groningen. Moreover, our task is to organize activities which will have a multicultural character and will also involve faculty related matters. Two of the most important activities of this group are the International Quiz Nights and the International Day. The first International Quiz Night of this year  will take place on the 11th of May , while we are also busy organizing the International Day. The international day is a more formal activity, which tends to introduce the cultural differences (e.g. food, music, customs) between the international students and the local students, while focusing in to integrating them to this new environment. We are also looking up for possibilities to combine this international day with a career day for job opportunities abroad inviting several multinational companies that would be interested in employing students from the RUG.
