| 3 September to 5 September | EBF Introductionweekend | ||||
For the freshmen at the Faculty of Economics and Business the EBF Introductionweekend will be organized. The EBF Introductionweekend is one of the biggest in the Netherlands and will take place during the last weekend of the summerholidays before the studyyear starts again. The introductionweekend is ment for freshmen to get in contact with their fellow students, studying and the study faculty association, the EBF. During the weekend, groups will be arranged by field of study as much as possible and are under supervision of senior students. These students will guide his or her group while undertaking activities. Moreover, you can ask him or her all questions you have. This year, the EBF Introductieweekend will take place on the German isle of, in the weekend of 3,4 and 5 September 2010. The theme this year is Flower Power @ Borkum. Welcome to hippieland! For the student who come along, you don't have to bring any sleepingstuff. There are pillows and blankets available including sheets. The costs for the weekend are €49,50. This includes the costs for bus, boat, accomodation and meals. Drinking is for own account.

| 6 September | Opening of the Academic Year | ||||
Monday September 6 2010 at 17.15: all students are invited to attend the festive opening ceremony of the Academic Year 2010-2011. The opening ceremony will take place on Broerplein in front of the Academiegebouw, in the heart of Groningen. The programme will last until approximately 22.00 and consists of the following:

EBF-JOVD Leadership Panel with Gerrit Zalm The EBF organizes a Leadership Panel about two times a year. During this event a well-known speaker from the world of business or politics will give a lecture for a large group of students. The next Leadership Panel will be organised in association with the JOVD Groningen and will be held on Tuesday, September 21. The guest speaker will be the former minister of finance and board member of the ABN-Amro, Gerrit Zalm. He will give a lecture about the current crisis and how ABN-Amro deals with the fusion with Fortis. Gerrit Zalm (born 6 May 1952) is a former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Netherlands. He was the longest serving Minister of Finance in the history of the Netherlands and has been responsible for numerous reforms of the Dutch economy. On 21 November it was announced by Prime Minister Balkenende that Zalm will be the new CEO of the bank resulting from the merger of ABN and Fortis Netherlands, two recently nationalized banks.
After the Leadership Panel of Gerrit Zalm the Dutch Budget Propsal debate will kick-off with a jury consisting out of:

The discussion panel will be led by Janka Stoker, vice president of the Faculty of Economics and Business Groningen. The EBF warmly invites everyone to attend this Leadership Panel and Budget Proposal debat at 6.30 pm in Martinikerk. The doors will be open at 6.00 pm. Please be on time. First come first served. Entrance is free of charge!
