IBISS Foundation

This year, IBR Brazil will support the project ‘Jovens Lideranças’ of the IBISS foundation. IBISS has been helping the most deprived groups within the Brazilian society such as inhabitants of slums (favelas) and people who live on the street. IBISS strives to create a ‘healthier society’ where public facilities become accessible for all layers of the Brazilian society. ‘Jovens Lideranças’ means ‘the forming of new entrepreneurs’. This project is a course for young potential leaders of socially isolated favelas with an emphasis on business administration. The governor of the state Rio de Janeiro calls ‘Jovens Lideranças’ the most effective weapon in the struggle against social isolation. Goals of this project are:

- To offer young citizens of slums the opportunity to develop their leadership potential outside of the criminal scene;
- To help young citizens of slums develop themselves in order to structure their own life in relation to the democracy;
- To let the young citizens of slums become a role model for their peers;
- To offer young citizens of slums a helping hand to bridge the gap between the slums and the rest of the world.
